Christophe Chabert

BrestPort

CEO

Description

Trained at the French Naval Academy, this naval officer and expert in electrical engineering began his career in the French Navy. Over more than 15 years, he gained extensive experience in operational management, first at sea and later on major construction projects in Brest, Lorient, and Saint-Nazaire. Another key milestone in Christophe Chabert's career was his twelve years at Naval Group, the European leader in naval defense, where he held technical and industrial management positions. It was within this major company that he became increasingly involved in the then-emerging sector of marine renewable energy, offshore wind, and tidal power. From 2014 to 2017, he served as Director of OpenHydro France, a subsidiary of the group, working on the construction and installation of tidal energy farms in France, including the Paimpol-Bréhat project. In 2017, a new chapter began at Eolfi (a Shell Group company), where he was appointed Director of Floating Wind Development in France. In this role, he oversaw the Groix and Belle-Île pilot project and later led the bid for the ongoing national tender (a consortium of Shell, EnBW, and Caisse des Dépôts) to develop France’s first commercial offshore wind farm in southern Brittany. Claiming a strong local presence at the edge of Brittany, Christophe Chabert was appointed Chairman of the Executive Board of BrestPort (formerly Société Portuaire Brest Bretagne) in June 2022. He led the port's strategic development plan, with the signing of a new concession contract in early 2024 to for an unprecedented duration of 40 years.
