TECHNICAL VISITS EMYN

#2 Inside the Yeu–Noirmoutier offshore wind farm (EMYN)
In June 2014, the project company Éoliennes en Mer îles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier (EMYN)* was selected as the winner of the French government’s tender for the development, installation and operation of an offshore wind farm off the coast of the Vendée. From early 2026, 61 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 8.2 MW, will generate electricity using wind power. Located 11.7 km from the Île d’Yeu and 16.5 km from the Île de Noirmoutier, this offshore wind farm, with a total capacity of 500 MW, will generate approximately 1,900 GWh per year, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of the population of Vendée (800,000 people). EMYN is a consortium gathering four companies: Ocean Winds (60.25%), an international company dedicated to offshore wind energy, created as a 50/50 joint venture owned by EDP Renewables and ENGIE, Sumitomo Corporation (29.5%); Banque des Territoires (9.75%); and Vendée Energie (0.5%).
