Established in France in 2005 and firmly rooted in the regions of Brittany and Pays de la Loire, the Pôle Mer Bretagne Atlantique is a competitive cluster that brings together 450 key stakeholders — including major industrial groups, SMEs, research institutions, and higher education bodies — to drive the economic development of France’s marine and maritime sectors.
Its core mission is to foster innovation by:
Identifying and supporting breakthrough projects from the earliest idea to market launch,
Creating synergies between research, academia, and industry,
Boosting R&D investment in SMEs,
And promoting a true culture of innovation across the ecosystem.
As a catalyst for innovation and transitions, the cluster enhances the visibility of its members well beyond regional boundaries through international partnerships, B2B events, showrooms, lobbying activities, and European and global intercluster collaborations.
Pôle Mer is deeply committed to advancing the sustainable growth of the marine and maritime economy, tapping into the vast potential of Europe’s oceans, seas, and coasts as powerful drivers of the green economy — with strong prospects for innovation, competitiveness, and high-quality employment.
Since its inception, Pôle Mer Bretagne Atlantique has supported and certified more than 600 innovative projects, representing €1.88 billion in R&D investment.
